At the Text+ Plenary 2025 in Göttingen, HERMES hosted a Fishbowl discussion on June 17 entitled “Beyond the Bubble – Are We Reaching the Right People with Our Services?”. The debate addressed a pressing issue: do digital services like those offered by Text+ and HERMES truly reach scholars across disciplines, or are they mainly visible within a small circle of the Digital Humanities community?

Participants emphasized the importance of lowering entry barriers, showcasing concrete examples from research and teaching, and embedding digital methods more firmly into academic curricula. They also highlighted the need to improve visibility across disciplines and create conditions that foster broader engagement.

A detailed recap of the session, including key contributions from Henrike Manuwald, Cornelius Herz, and Philipp Hegel, is available on the HERMES blog. It points to several areas of action that will shape the future development of Text+ and HERMES.
