Text+ Starts Phase 2 with New Lead in Göttingen

Text+ has officially entered its second funding phase. With the start of Phase 2 in October 2026, the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen) has taken over the role of lead applicant for the University of Göttingen and, with it, responsibility for the financial, organisational, and strategic coordination of the consortium.

The new funding phase builds on the structures, services, and collaborations established during Phase 1. Over the coming two years, Text+ will focus on consolidating its research data infrastructure, further developing central services for research data management, and strengthening their long-term sustainability.

A key priority will be to ensure a stable and high-performing infrastructure for text- and language-based research. Text+ will continue to support the long-term preservation, provision, and reuse of research data while aligning its services even more closely with the needs of its scientific communities.

The transition to Phase 2 also marks a change in leadership. With SUB Göttingen taking on the lead role, the coordination of Text+ is now based in Göttingen. The new leadership will guide the consortium through its second funding phase and support its continued strategic development in close cooperation with all Text+ partner institutions and communities. Professor Dr. Philipp Wieder (SUB Göttingen) will now serve as the spokesperson for the consortium, working closely with Professor Dr. Andreas Witt (IDS Mannheim) as co-spokesperson.

The FAIR data principles remain central to the work of Text+. Text+ will continue to promote research data that are findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable, while also strengthening cooperation within the NFDI and contributing to the development of sustainable research data infrastructures in Germany.

We look forward to continuing the joint work with all Text+ partners, communities, and contributors in Phase 2.
