Show and Tell: AMMICO (AI-based Media and Misinformation Content Analysis Tool)

As part of the Show and Tell: Tools, Services, Projects - A Text+ Event Series, we welcome Delia Dumitrescu (University of Heidelberg), who will introduce the tool AMMICO.

AMMICO (AI-based Media and MIsinformation COntent analysis tool) is a publicly available software package written in Python (GitHub), whose purpose is to facilitate the multi-modal analysis of social media communications. The talk will briefly introduce its main modules:

1. Extraction and translation of text from visual files
2. Caption creation and answers to user-formulated questions about the content of image files
3. Caption creation and answers to user-formulated questions about the content of video files

The talk concludes by highlighting AMMICO’s advantages for social media communication research.
