16:00 – 18:00

This workshop explores Large Language Models (LLMs), which power well-known tools such as ChatGPT. In a 90-minute introduction, Christof Schöch (University of Trier) will explain how LLMs work, what implications their technical design has for their use, and how they can be applied in the context of Romance philology.

Topics include:

  • Core principles of LLMs
  • Prompt design and critical evaluation of outputs
  • Reliability, limitations, and challenges
  • Use cases in research and teaching

The workshop aims to provide an accessible introduction, even for participants without a technical background. Practical examples will illustrate typical application scenarios in academic contexts.

A Q&A and discussion session will follow the introduction.

The workshop is organized by the AG Digitale Romanistik in cooperation with Text+ and is aimed at researchers, lecturers, students, and anyone interested in using LLMs and AI applications in research and teaching.
