Data Depositing

The Text+ Data Depositing service enables researchers to preserve and publish text- and language-based research data within the Text+ infrastructure. As part of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), Text+ offers researchers with an academic affiliation the opportunity to deposit research data for long-term preservation and reuse in accordance with legal requirements. The service supports sustainable research data management by following the FAIR principles and ensuring compliance with data protection and licensing requirements.

Researchers begin by providing an initial description of their datasets through the Data Depositing web form. Based on this information, the Text+ Helpdesk coordinates the depositing process together with the appropriate Text+ Center. Researchers receive support in selecting a suitable data center, preparing and describing research data with Text+-specific metadata, and completing the necessary steps for publication.

The Text+ Data Depositing workflow guides researchers from data submission through consultation, curation, publication, and long-term preservation to discovery via the Text+ Registry and Federated Content Search (FCS).

The depositing workflow combines expert consultation with technical infrastructure throughout the research data lifecycle. Following the initial submission, the Helpdesk coordinates the necessary curation and ingest steps together with the responsible Text+ Center. Research data are prepared for preservation, enriched with metadata, and transferred to certified repositories for sustainable archiving and future reuse.

Research data deposited through Text+ become visible through the Text+ Registry, which provides a central point of access to resources across the Text+ infrastructure. Where appropriate, datasets can also be accessed through the Federated Content Search (FCS), enabling secure and legally compliant discovery of distributed research data while increasing their visibility and interoperability within the NFDI ecosystem.

The service supports researchers throughout the depositing process, from the initial description of research data to metadata creation, repository selection, publication, and long-term preservation. By combining expert consultation, certified repositories, standardized metadata, and integrated discovery services, the Text+ Data Depositing service provides a reliable pathway from data submission to long-term preservation and reuse, making research data more discoverable through the Text+ infrastructure and supporting sustainable research data management across the Text+ community.
