Freie Universität Berlin (FUB)
Text+ center: Oral-History.Digital, Team “Digital Interview Collections”
Type of center: data center/competence center
The Digital Interview Collections department of the University Library is working with researchers from Freie Universität Berlin and external partners to develop interactive research and learning environments for oral history collections (https://www.fu-berlin.de/dis). In addition to National Socialism and the Holocaust, the topics include interviews on the history of Freie Universität, the GDR border regime or the German cult settlement “Colonia Dignidad” in Chile. The team’s expertise covers the entire process from conducting interviews, collection management, (automatically supported) transcription, scientific curation to the digital publication and didactic presentation of oral history interviews.
The project “Oral-History.Digital” develops and implements a curation and research platform for scholarly collections of audio-visual narrative interviews. Researchers, educators and the general public can browse the collection using filters and full-text searches. Interview projects in museums, universities or foundations can upload their audio and video interviews with accompanying materials and edit them with tools for transcription or keywording.
